Hi Annie, a quick email to me at learn@alaskadogworks.com with your scores is great, then I can input them into your profile in my system.

I’m so glad you’re already noticing huge differences in the approach. Each dog has their own personality and this program gives you a way to develop and train for those personalities.

Happy New Year and I…[Read more]

I didn’t see your message until today. Surgery did not turn out as planned – ended up having two. I’m on the mend. I hope training with DD is moving along. You should’ve gotten the email from Joel telling you that your program was approved and you’re sponsored by the ELKS Lodge. I’m not cleared to drive yet, hopefully tomorrow. Text me so…[Read more]

Use of treats is up to you, praise is expected. Over use of treats in dogs with higher prey drive than your Rags can cause problems. 🙂

All of those commands are excellent for teaching him to get in the car. We say “load up”
Remember when unloading to say “wait” before allowing him to exit, think of a release command for exiting and then encourage him to stay near, or even sit by the vehicle with leash on until your ready for the next step.

Sorry for the delay in answering your questions. I’m not on the PupPortal daily so I miss things. In regards to his reactivity to noises at the door and window…best case is to catch him in the act and tell him to “check it” – if he looks without jumping or barking excessively then praise him for it. Teaching him a command for the thing he’s…[Read more]

    Hi Audra
The numbers do look pretty close.
Try using all numbers between 0 through 10 as scoring choices.

I scored Teddy Prey 68 Pack 55 Def. Flight 60 Def. Fight 40

Then you compare your numbers to the scenarios to see which one is closest and it’ll explain how to work the dog through the drives into PACK which is optimal for training retention.

A lot of this is addressed in the first meeting – please text my phone number to schedule that!

Please retake the test and utilize all numbers between 0 and 10, not just 0, 5, and 10. I apologize it is confusing directions. But I would also imagine that is about correct for his breed type. Also, you both should take the test individually…[Read more]

Hi Carlotta, Just got this message, my apologies I have to get physically on a computer to see these. Like I mentioned earlier we need to remove her from her “comfort” area which is your home. Drive her to another place in the neighborhood to get her out of the spot.

    Great job you guys.

Go back and match her numbers as closely as you can to the descriptions (i.e.) junk yard dog, teachers pet etc. to see which type she’s most like.

To keep her out of that defense drive and in pack drive we’ll use prey, like toys and treats to capture her attention
