A short update on a personal side. Maybe each of us could add where they are at too.
1. My deposit will be paid on Thursday 10/31
2. Michele has already booked her flights to and from Nome.
3. Michele has secured a room at the Aurora Hotel a day before we are scheduled to arrive and leaving two days later.
4. Michele booked a room for a…[Read more] -

I am not adverse to it but we have not had anyone else show interest. We are rather late in the game and once we start paying for lodging and giving people solid numbers it can be difficult to add to that.

Michele has done some work on finding prices on crates here in the Valley. Amazon will not ship according to their site. She went to Petco in Wasilla and they have two sizes between $99 and $129. She also went to Three Bears on Pittman. They sell them for $139. Walmart site is unclear if they will ship.
Remember we are requesting everyone…[Read more]

Kathleen,
Our dates are Friday evening February 21 and leave Saturday morning. We have built in 18 days on the trail so that would be in Nome on March 10. There are 29 days in February this year.

Which two tasks did you want to be assigned?
The trip will only be canceled for lack of snow/weather. Our number one priority is to make it a go. It will be up to the individual lodges/communities if they want to return money paid in the event that we have to cancel. I do know I have booked many accommodations from bunkhouses in the middle of…[Read more]

Hi Sue, I know we spoke on email as well. I will put you down for the lodging role along with Michele. As I mentioned, it would be best if we had our shipping and drops in place before we book any lodging. The reason I say this is so that we may be able to utilize the person who we are coordinating the lodging with (ie a school principal) as the…[Read more]

Just a thought…. If you use the boxes from here in the Valley, you are actually shipping them up AND back so I wonder if the cost of using them would be that much of a savings also considering how much work may need to be done to make them usable.
Just my two cents,
Robert

Yes that sounds right for the teams flying back from Nome.
Dog teams from Nome are Stephanie and Kirsten.

I have a 2017 Yamaha VK540 and it is a 2 stroke, fan cooled, and gets about 150 miles to a tank. I pulled a bunch of gear when I did the 170 mile winter multi-sport expedition as the instructor for UAA, twice so for. It is not too top heavy, a comfortable ride, has a low gear and reverse. Go check them out in Wasilla.
This course at UAA is what…[Read more]

Group,
It was good to speak to most of you last night during the second call.
Here is a list of the Jobs/Tasks/Roles that would like to assign to folks. Remember if you take on a Job/Task/Role that you agree that you will be the lead for that task and we will assume that you will follow it through until the end.
1. Risk Management
2.…[Read more] -

Kathleen, thanks for the info. However you are taking on some of the tasks that we talked about last night and I want to be sure if you take those on then you will be heading those up formally.
Two of our tasks/jobs/roles/projects are:
1. Straw
2. Getting dogs/gear/supplies home from Nome.If you want to head up those two roles that would be…[Read more]

Kathleen,
We will have a spottarcker feed and it will probably be at least available on Facebook. I do website stuff for a living, it is a lot of work. I will see what I can do it get something going for our group but right now it is not the highest priority.

While I think it is a great idea to have a website, I don’t have the time to put into it. I spend hours a week on our content for our dog training business and it is a lot of work. I already have the domain name serumrunexpedition.org registered but it would need an SSL certificate (about $150) plus hosting and more.
