When we identify folks who are going to pick up and watch over our drop bags in the various villages, I think we should compensate them. This is mostly for mushers, since us mushers have the most stuff to be sent out and watched over. My figuring shows a possible 7 spots: Manley, Tananna, Ruby, Kaltag, Unalakleet, Koyuk & White Mountain. I would suggest that each musher contribute something like $50 per spot – that would give the person guarding our stuff $300. I’m open to suggestions for an amount if folks think $50 each is too much. Or if we did $50 a team – the musher could ask their snow machiner for a contribution. I could get VISA gift cards in whatever amount and we could give those to the guardians of our stuff.
