Here’s an idea for the villages in which we show the movie. We’re showing the movie “Attla” for free. Why don’t we have a donation can and use whatever funds generated in each location to help pay for lodging at that location. If donation exceeds cost of lodging we would donate back to the community.

Tolovana Lodge is the historical location where the 1925 serum run switched drivers. It’s at the Tolovana River’s confluence with the Tanana River just a few miles east of Beaver Point Lodge. It is owned by dog mushers who live in Fairbanks and was a hospitality stop for the 2014 Iditarod. I’ve looked at their rates for dog sled tours so they might not be any cheaper than Beaver Point, but it might be interesting to ask them for a quote.

I spent a lot of years living on just a few thousand a year so spending so much for lodging rubs me the wrong way. There are lots of places to camp between Nenana and Tanana. Camping in villages is a different story. This is the digital age and people will need to charge phones, other electronic devices and get on the internet so that is a factor to consider. I looked at GCIs cell coverage map and every village except Kaltag has cell service so people will be able to get on the internet with their phones. Schools may have wifi that we can use but some sites may be blocked.
