Hello all,
Good group call last night. The audio is up on the page, scroll down to find it.
Per our discussions
Group Costs:
Fuel. A total will be tallied using a formula developed by Phil and each Snowmachiner will be responsible for their share of that number. (ie. 800 miles / 8 miles to the gallon X $6.00 per gallon X 6 snowmachiners = $3600 / 6 snowmachiners = $600 a piece for fuel) Note: By the way the / symbol is for “divide” and the X symbol is for multiply
Oil for snow machines cost divided by the snow machines
Straw. Similar to the same formula used for fuel. ( for example 6 mushers X 8 bales X $15.00 + 38 per bale shipping = $2544 / 6 mushers = $424 each musher for the straw)
Heet number of bottles X the number of days x mushers / cost per team. They sell it by the case here locally at AIH.
Lodging. (Total cost / 12 participants)
Personal costs:
All other costs will be personal costs but we may be able to procure a group rate. For example if we can get a group rate at Northern Air Cargo of say $0.50 a pound versus say $0.75 no-group rate then it would be advantageous to go as a group to ship items out. We will have a deadline of when drop bags are due to be shipped and the method as we get closer. This will be a similar system as they use on Iditarod.

One of them is the information that Stephanie needs for her to contact about this shipping. We need this info asap and the deadline is listed.
Also listed is a deadline to talk to the Nome Animal House about the possibility of getting crates from her and another deadline is for the information on the cost of those crates and a shipping time line.
Two other deadlines are for the straw. One is for Kathleen to have a plan in place for the straw shipment and the second one is a deadline for each of the mushers to make a deposit for their portion of the straw to Kirsten so that we can purchase it.
Michele will be working on securing lodging over the next week or so and it is unknown at this point the costs of this will be. It may be $1000 or it may be $3000 we just don’t know until we call and set it up. We will use the funds that have already been deposited for this first and if we need more Kirseten will request it from each participant. Our deadline for all of the lodging to be secured is by the next group call.
I will be in Mexico over the next week and will not have Internet access. I am headed on a Great White shark dive trip.
As we mentioned we are getting mush closer and it is crunch time and things will be happening very quickly.
