Be aware that we could be in a “stay put” mode for up to two or three days due to weather. If you look at Ruby through Kaltag on http://www.weather.com, they have had a two-day blizzard — 25 mph winds, 11 inches of snow and “no travel” warning. That means that each of us must have enough extra food for ourselves and our dogs to “stay put” for at least two days. I’ve sent out some extra food, but will carry two days of dog food on my sled in case we get trapped somewhere at the end of a three-day food drop. This is wilderness travel; the stretch between Tanana and Ruby is not generally travelled during the winter, so you MUST be prepared for yourself and for your dogs.
