A key issue we need to deal with is dropped dogs. In prior Serum Run expeditions, the rule of thumb was that a dog who rides in the Siglin sled for three days gets shipped home. What we need, given that we have mushers from three locations, is a list of the airlines that will fly a dog back from the location it is dropped. If a dog needs to be dropped in Manley, the question is whether there is somebody who could drive out and pick it up and take it back to FBNKs.

So, somebody (not me but perhaps Juliah or Carla) might want to make some calls to Everts, Northern Air Cargo, and AK Air to see where a dog can be shipped to from various hubs along the trail (Tanana, Ruby, Galena, Unalakleet etc.). If a dog is dropped on the final third of the expedition, does it make sense to ship the dog to NOme and then just take it back with us if somebody can watch the dog.
