Group call #6 audio is uploaded.

Next call is Sunday January 12 at 7pm.

A couple important takeaways from last nights call:

Rabies clinic should be in the mornings.

Alaska Dog Works will pay for the screening of Attla if the group doesn’t want to pay.

It’s looking like it’s going to be at least $70 per person for each of the schools. I believe there are 7 o them of them so that will be an additional $490. Remember there is a $1000 charge for one of the nights on Michele’s end plus the Beaver Point Lodge. So at least $600 for lodging thus far per person.

Stephanie had said its $50 per crate to ship dogs home on NAC.

Stephanie and Phil had said backhaul rate is .38 cents plus the dimensions of the dog box and you can get a cost estimator online. Materials for dog box is about $300 to Phil.

Remember that Nome side supplies need to be in Nome by the 1/28 and this is not just for the mushers. Machiners will need their supplies sent out too.

Stephanie is going to talk to her contact about the use of a Facebook page. Remember if you are starting a new facebook page you are starting from scratch with no friends/fans and it takes a long while to build up an audience. I will be post all of my updates on my dog team page. It has over 21,000 friends/fans. The Serum Run Group that was talked about last night was set up over 3 years ago when I was developing the winter expedition course at UAA. It is a closed group. Groups are much different than pages.

A quick budget from what I see right now from a mushers perspective:

Straw $400 (not including shipping or payment to lady in North Pole to Drive it down)
    Lodging $600
    Dogs back $600
Dog food $800 (not including fish for snacks)
    Personal Supplies $400
    Hotel in Nenana $180
    Hotel in Nome $260
    Booties $300
    Heet $225
    _________________________________
    $3540

NOTE: This does not include lodging in Manley yet. It also does not include personal food, cash, emergency supplies. This does not include any shipping of supplies from our side up to UNK where we will get free shipping after there. This also does not include shipping dog sled and any other supplies from Nome home. Plane ticket home will be on miles for me but that will be an additional $200 or so. So with all this in mind there are still several hundred dollars of expenses to be tabulated. As I have said all along I believe this will be a $4000 trip.

You may disagree with me on my numbers for the budget but I think its pretty spot on.
